Webinar originally aired 8/7/2020

Confronting this country’s history of racism, and reckoning with its manifestation in the present is, in itself, a daunting task. Black LGBTQ individuals have to carry the burden and work of navigating a racist society, and also contend with transphobic and homophobic violence. This societal syndemic shows up in all facets of life, and even within the LGBTQ community itself.

While we are seeing uprisings, and revolutionary push back against a system of oppression that is integral to how this country operates. Black LGBTQ citizens are pushing to broaden the dialogue to explicitly include their narratives and voices.

LGBTQ people face an incarceration rate that is roughly three times higher than the general incarceration rate, according to data compiled by the Williams Institute. And the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey reported that Black transgender women were incarcerated approximately at a rate ten times that of the general population. In the latest episode of #AuthenticVoicesOfPride presented by Chevy, LGBTQ Nation follows Dominique Morgan, the Executive Director of Black and Pink National. She knows these issues on a personal level – and that’s why she’s fighting for her community.

Senior Attorney at Lambda Legal Richard Saenz joins the conversation to discuss how LGBTQ people living with HIV are impacted by the justice system

Chevrolet is matching donations to Lambda Legal up to $25,000. For almost 50 years, Lambda Legal has been a major force in affecting social change through our public policy and impact litigation work on behalf of the LGBTQ community and everyone living with HIV. We are winning new protections for the most vulnerable in our community including people of color, people living with HIV, seniors, trans/GNC people, and youth. We are defending our community from attacks designed to roll back our rights.

Description in process..✨

Btw if the whole story line where he explains "Brooky" and "Gemz" I'll be explaining that in the next episode in the description, because I feel like it wasn't really well explained so I apologise :'D

also someone said that the character with the blue hair looked like "Rin" from an anime series and I looked that character up and oh gosh they looked similar, but I swear I'm not trying to copy any characters, and I didn't even know that anime since I don't watch anime that much and yeah, please don't attack me "you copied a character from an anime series" because I didn't know that anime and yeah (╥﹏╥)

but anyways, I might delete this description when I make my new one because I want to give credit to the music and the storyline of "Brooky" and stuff and yeah
